Wings of Hope Global Cooperative’s Osiligi Medical Center Campus Plan

A broad holistic approach to health and healing will be found within the Osiligi Medical Center

Campus Plan that was developed by David Weeks and the design team of the Build Health International nonprofit in Beverly, MA for the Wings of Hope Global Cooperative. This Campus Plan will partner the Wings of Hope Global Cooperative, the Narok Health Department in Kenya and a local Maasai Oversight Committee. Beyond being a centralized destination for medical care, it honors the Maasai community it serves by creating spaces for connection and acknowledgement of the value of both traditional and western medical practices. By using renewable energy and a carefully managed water system, the resilient infrastructure of this Campus Plan is designed to sustain future growth. The development of this project will take place in phases by first constructing a hospital, then expanding its capacity along with outpatient services and finally building a cultural arts center to enhance wellbeing. See the attached link to the Osiligi Medical Center Campus Development Plan.

David’s Trip to Kenya from June 16-29 has five main objectives:

  1. Receive the Osiligi Medical Center endorsement from the Kenyan Ministry of Health
  2. Establish an MOU between the Wings of Hope Global Cooperative, the Narok Health Department and the local Maasai Oversight Committee.
  3. Approach a member of Parliament to pass a law that will integrate traditional medicine with western medicine in Kenyan pharmacies and hospitals.
  4. Host the two-day Wings of Hope Health Fair for the Maasai people.
  5. Verify patients served and equipment purchased from/for the Osiligi medical facilities.
