Thanks to donor support, Wings of Hope President David Weeks is pleased to report that diagnostic vision equipment for the vision office in the Osiligi Medical Complex for the Maasai in Kenya has been purchased. Presently a local carpenter is preparing the vision office to receive a slit lamp, ophthalmoscope and tonometer. Clouded vision of the Maasai in this rural community has compromised their independence and ability to be self-sufficient. Hopefully with continued donor support, Wings of Hope will be able to help a local ophthalmologist to have the ophthalmic surgical equipment to help restore visual acuity to those in need. Visit the Wings of Hope website: www.supportwingsofhope.org to donate online and help prevent vision loss.
Wings of Hope has made a significant difference in the quality of life for the villagers of Ditinn in Guinea. Collaborating with the Rotary Club of Central Africa, Wings of Hope has brought fresh ground water free of parasites to villagers with the installation of a water well. Three faucets for public access have made this water available to the local people in this rural community. A water distribution center is presently being constructed for the purpose of generating revenue for a local well management team from the sale of bottled water to motorists and others passing through the village. This income will ensure proper well maintenance and sustainability for the future. To learn more about Wings of Hope’s water initiatives in Guinea visit the Guinean component on its website: www.supportwingsofhope.org. Funds are being sought to support another village well installation that will provide its people with health giving water for personal consumption, livestock and plant irrigation.
