In both Kenya and Guinea, Wings of Hope has worked effectively with local leaders to advance health care services and fresh water accessibility. The staff housing for the local Kenyan Obgyn of the Osiligi Medical Dispensary that had Wings of Hope provide materials and the local community provide construction labor has with the exception of tile flooring been completed. To be more efficient with health care service, Wings of Hope has now provided a tablet and Wifi access to this Obgyn for processing patients and accessing medical records. In Guinea, the bore hole for the well installation in Ditinn has been dug and villagers now have access to fresh water. The first drilling rig broke down and instead of delaying the construction process, the Wings of Hope civil engineer supervisor on site worked with the local community and with another drilling rig completed the well installation on schedule. More needs to be done to establish a water distribution center for the local villagers but at present, there is joy and hope for a better future from the Ditinn community in Guinea.
Wings of Hope is now in the process of inviting candidates for its second Maasai and Safari Adventure in Kenya from June 17 to 30, 2026. David Weeks ’73 and Executive Director Summer Slevin are seeking a small group of five people who have either an interest in or expertise with health care.
