Wings of Hope partnerships have helped to make remarkable progress in bettering our world. On October 25 talented Burmese entertainers partnered with Wings of Hope to stage the unique Myanmar Cultural Celebration Fundraiser in Howard County, Maryland that raised approximately $6000.00 to support prosthetics and medical supplies for displaced Burmese in Myanmar.
Wings of Hope donors have significantly improved the quality of health care for the Maasai in Kenya with purchases of an autoclave to sterilize obstetric and dental instruments, an incinerator to manage the medical waste from the Osiligi Medical Dispensary and funds to support the materials needed in the construction of a small cottage for the OBGYN doctor to remain on site to provide 24/7 medical support for maternal care. The local Maasai community will partner with Wings of Hope in providing the cost of the labor associated with the construction of this residence. This project is a great example of Wings of Hope working with and not for the local people in need.
Two initiatives have begun to improve the quality of education for Maasai children in the Punyua Primary School in Kenya and the health, education and economy of the Ditinn villagers in Guinea. Thanks to a generous donation of 26 laptops, Wings of Hope has sent them by air from California to Maryland and shipped them to Kenya with the help of a partnership established with the NGO Kenya Connects. This NGO will also assist Wings of Hope in making sure that the Primary School children and their teachers have the necessary training and infrastructural network support. WoH Executive Director Summer Slevin has invited donors to partner on this project by learning about its value and needed support by accessing; http://givebutter.com/95qkns .
The second initiative has the virtual Rotary Club of Central Africa partnering with Wings of Hope with a $5000.00 matching grant that provides the necessary funds to install a well, construct a water distribution station and considerably improve the quality of life for Ditinn villagers in Guinea. To follow the advances being made by Wings of Hope, subscribe to the monthly newsletter on its website www.supportwingsofhope.org. On the link below, I have provided my end of year message as the Wings of Hope President. I am grateful for the financial and in-kind support the 501c3 Wings of Hope has received to accomplish its goals. Enjoy this special holiday season!
