Wings of Hope Global Cooperative Update for ClassACT 73 May Newsletter

by | July 22, 2025 | News, Perspectives

With the generous contributions of Wings of Hope donors, the Osiligi Medical Center in Kenya is becoming a reality. This building that complements the Osiligi Medical Dispensary for maternal care now houses a pharmacy, a dentist chair for a local dentist and some vision equipment for an office for a local ophthalmologist. More pharmacy lab and vision equipment are needed but advances have been made with the purchase of a new refrigeration unit for vaccines. The Maasai are also now eager to have their dental needs managed locally. David Weeks’73 President of Wings of Hope is grateful to all the donors who have thus far supported the health care for the Maasai in Kenya. Addressing complicated births or supporting women experiencing pre-eclampsia still need attention but Wings of Hope has already started to promote its vision for a well-equipped maternity hospital on its website.

On June 17 the Wings of Hope twelve-day African Adventure will be launched. It will include a two-day health fair having eight Wings of Hope travelers collaborating with local Narok Health Department officials to attend to the health care needs of the Maasai. To improve the birthing process for the women and to improve the health and well being of all Health Fair recipients, the following medications are being purchased: prenatal vitamins, multivitamins, Acetaminophen, Triple Antibiotics ointment and muscle & joint pain-relieving cream. Approximately half the cost of the $1209.75 has been raised and David Weeks hopes to raise the balance of $600.00 by the end of May. Those interested in supporting the cost of these medications can contribute to the Wings of Hope website at www.supportwingsofhope.org
